Marriage and Civil Status Law Amendment

On 2nd June 2008, the Panel presented comments on the proposed amendment to the Marriage and Civil Status Law.  If adopted, the amendment would allow parents some choice in the surname under which to register the birth of their children.  The Panel held a Public Hearing with the Minister for Home Affairs to consider the amendment.

2. To consider the work on which the Minister for Home Affairs has based the draft amendment


 


3. To assess the implications of amending (or not, as the case may be) the Marriage and Civil Status (Jersey) Law 2001
