Public Engagement
How you can get involved...
It's not always easy to tell government what you think. But if you don't, how can we know what you think?
Scrutiny is committed to engaging actively with the Jersey public and we need to hear your views
Publicity
Look out regularly in the local media for
-Scrutiny updates
-Public hearing dates and times
-Updates on the progress of individual reviews
The next edition of the 'Scrutiny Matters' newsletter is being prepared and will be distributed in May 2009.
Research
In order to track public awareness and understanding of Scrutiny and its work in progress, research is conducted regularly with the Jersey public. If you would like to get more involved and tell us what you think, register online.
Attend a Panel Meeting
Scrutiny Panel meetings are generally held in public. Anyone is welcome to attend and observe. If any item on the Panel's agenda is confidential, you will be advised and asked to withdraw for that item. Public Hearings, where a witness is invited to give evidence on a particular topic, are also open for anyone to attend.
Submit a Proposal
-Proposals may be made by anyone
-Proposed topics must be submitted in writing to the Scrutiny Office (based in Morier House) or contact the office on 441080.
-Use this website to propose a topic for review
-A topic may be suggested at any time in the year and all will be considered by the relevant Panel or Panels. Those not taken up by Panels will be held on file for futre reference.
-For advice on submitting a proposal, you are invited to contact the Scrutiny Office to discuss your idea.
Write In
Anyone who is interested is invited to submit written evidence. This will be considered alongside witness statmentes. All written evidence received by Scrutiny Panels, unless confidential, will be uploaded to the website and may be viewed by members of the public.
