What is the review about?

​The Education and Home Affairs Scrutiny Panel has started a review of the recently announced Student Finance Proposals.

If approved, the proposals would fund the entirety of tuition fees for households with income under £150,000 and 50% of the costs for households earning over £150,000

A consultation is being run by the Education Department and Treasury Department until Friday 12th January which can be accessed here

The Panel is currently collecting evidence for its review.

Terms of reference

​1.    To examine the appropriateness of the preferred Student Finance funding option(s) put forward by the Council of Ministers Sub-Committee in relation to:

a) local families and students

b) public finances

c) States of Jersey manpower resources

2.    To establish any other options considered but rejected by the Council of Ministers Sub-Committee and assess the rationale for any such decisions.
